We announce at the inspection that we are here at the request of your brand. We are a third party that offers professional assessment and estimates. In this manner, we will represent your brand well.

We provide as requested and applicable, photo reports, a written report, and an estimate using Xactimate.

We offer inspections for fire, flood, water, wind, hail, earthquake, collapse, ice damming, lightning strikes, tornado, and hurricane damages.

We inspect commercial, industrial, and residential structures.

We strive to complete inspections within 48 hours. However, in catastrophic events or in areas with high demand, that time can extend to 1-2 weeks.

We will use thermal imaging, invasive and passive moisture meters, and 3D capture services.

Appraisal Services:

An appraisal can be a binding contractual process available to settle valuation disputes between policyholders and their insurance companies when they fail to agree on the amount of loss or the scope of damages. The appraisal clause must be written into the policy. It can be found in the “Section 1 Conditions” section of your policy. In most states, the appraisal award is binding.

You should consider appraisal when all other available options have been considered and exhausted to settle the loss.

To invoke the appraisal clause found in your policy, you must send in a demand letter requesting an appraisal via certified mail to the main claims department. This address can be found on the first couple of pages on your estimate. Mission Consulting & Estimating will provide a demand letter for your convenience. It must quote your policy language and name us as your appointed appraiser. The insurance company has 20 days from the time they receive your letter to respond.

On average, the appraisal process takes between 6-8 weeks if the two appraisers agree on a valuation. If they cannot agree on a valuation of the loss, the two appraisers agree on an umpire to settle the difference between the two appraisers. This adds to the length of time it takes to settle the loss.

There are no guarantees that you will get everything or anything in the appraisal process.

Invoking your appraisal clause is just short of filing a lawsuit. Insurance companies prefer appraisal as it takes less time and costs less to settle the claim. Once the insurance company and you agree to enter an appraisal, the insurance company may be kept updated but should have no input into their appraiser’s decision. The claim differences are to be settled between the two named appraisers.

Mission Consulting & Estimating charges $235 per hour, plus expenses, with $1,000 as a retainer and base fee. This is payable only and if the carrier agrees to enter appraisal. Expenses typically include measurement reports, umpire fees and the cost to appoint an umpire if needed. If the claim goes to an umpire, expenses are shared with the insurance company. Each party pays half of the expenses.

First, send Mission Consulting & Estimating a copy of the full insurance carrier estimate and your policy. Photos of the damage are also needed.

We will review your information to determine if you are able to invoke appraisal and if we agree to represent your demand for appraisal.

Afterward, we will send you a demand letter you will need to send to your insurance company. Then we wait for the response from your insurance carrier. We will take the claim and the process from there. Additional information is available.
